If you come on a holiday in one of our accommodations in Andalusia, then the fun starts already on the way here. While you're driving along local roads to your studio or apartment, you'll get a taste of the real Spanish countryside. Yet here you don't have to choose between a holiday on the campo (the countryside) or in the city. From Cortijo Sylvestre you can enjoy both worlds to the fullest. Our Bed & Breakfast is close to the most beautiful cities of Andalusia such as Malaga and Granada.
After a day of soaking up the culture and enjoying Spanish delicacies, you come back to your own apartment or studio and drink a glass of wine with a view of the mountains. The next day, do a day of swimming, take a long walk, climb a mountain or drive to the beach. Below we give you some tips for activities in the area. But don't forget to look beyond the tourist attractions. Especially the small, white villages have a great charm. Discover the real Spanish life and take a walk right from your home. There is so much beauty to discover, we are happy to tell you more!
For a day trip you can go to Malaga, Granada or Frigiliana. In Malaga you will find Picasso's birth house, the Picasso museum, a harbour and a very special cathedral. Granada is a beautiful old city with a maze of steep streets and the highlight is the Alhambra; the famous medieval Arabic palace complex. Frigiliana is a picturesque white village not to be missed. Feel like doing something decadent for a day? Then go to Marbella!
Tip: combine your stay with a visit to Cordoba and Seville. Cordoba has many highlights from the Roman and Moorish times, a medieval palace, a city gate from the 16th century and botanical gardens. Seville is the capital of the region. Here, you can visit the Royal Palace, the cathedral and enjoy a flamenco show.
Fancy some action? Opposite our accommodation we have our 'own' mountains; the Gómer and the Dona Aña. These provide spectacular views, but a bit of a sporty person can also climb them. La Maroma, also known as Tejeda, is the highest peak of the Sierra de Tejeda (2068 m). During the long walk over this mountain (a bit of fitness is required!) you will cross several climate zones and you can see eagles and vultures.
Of course, you can also enjoy beautiful cycling or challenging mountain biking, right from your accommodation. A sporty tour through the neighbourhood or a tough route on the mtb; depending on your wishes, we will be happy to tell you where you could go. Fancy a day at the beach and some beach volley? Then drive to the beach. At a 30 to 50 minutes’ drive, you will find several beaches with cosy beach clubs.
Directly from the B&B you can make the most beautiful walks. Walk through the impressive mountain scenery and make it as challenging as you want. Of course, you can also follow one of the many official walking routes in the area.
Nature park El Torcal is a fantastic area for hiking with the necessary extras. You can spot snakes, foxes and lynxes and you will often encounter mountain goats, butterflies, eagles and griffon vultures. Don't forget to look down, because you can find fossils from when this area was still in the sea.
The area where our bed & breakfast is located is known for its olive oil, but also for its mango and avocado plantations. You will undoubtedly encounter these while exploring the area. The climate in Andalusia is mild all year round, but in summer it can be warm. So, spring and autumn would be best suited if you want to do a lot of hiking.
